So this week I am in Florida so my supplies were limited. This weeks project was very simple, I decided to make a shell candle. I figured since I'm in Florida I should incorporate shells into the project.
So what you need for this project is tea light candles, shells, and a match or lighter. The first step is to take the wax out of the container and take the wick out of the wax. The wick should just pop out if you pull on the metal part at the bottom. Now just put the wick at the bottom of the shell. At this point you have a few options. You can take another tea light and light the wick so it melts all of the wax, or you can put the candles onto a hot plate and let that melt the wax, or last but not least you could hold the candles with pliers over the stove flame and let that melt the wax. I tried lighting the wick and letting it melt but the wick burned really quickly all the way through and it didn't melt all of the wax. So what I ended up doing was holding it over the stove and melting it that way. Next you just take the melted wax and pour it right into the shell. Now wait for the wax to harden and you are good to go.
This is a really cute way to decorate a room to make it look beachy. This was super easy and it just adds a really nice summery touch to a room. I would definitely recommend this project!
RATINGS:
MESSINESS: 2/10 This wasn't very messy at all. I think the only thing you have to worry about is to be careful when you light the matches and to be careful not to get wax anywhere that it isn't supposed to be.
SIMPLICITY: 2/10 This again was super simple. Just a very few materials and a few easy steps, and in my opinion pretty good results.
FUN: 7/10 This was really fun! Doesn't take much effort just a little patience. I enjoyed making this DIY!
OVERALL: 9/10 I think this is a really fun and easy project and totally worth doing! Its also super cheap! All you need to buy is candles if you have access to a beach!
WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?: Yes I 100% will do this again! Why not honestly! If I ever need to decorate a room or for a party or something beach themed this is a really cute easy way to convert a room! I really like the way this turned out and will definitely be using this trick in the future!
