So this week I decided to make flubber soap. If you were wondering what flubber soap is... It's a playdoh like substance, but it's soap. That's the closest this I can think of to describe what it is. So anyway, what you will need for this project is: Liquid soap or shampoo, cornstarch, any type of oil (I used olive oil), measuring cups- 1/3 and 1/4 cups, something to mix it all in, and something to mis it all with. This DIY is nice because all of the materials are household items.
The first step to this project is to put 1/3 cup of shampoo into your mixing bowl, or in my case cup. The next thing is to add 1/4 cup of cornstarch to the shampoo. Then mix the shampoo and cornstarch together. Once mixed you want to add about 2 teaspoons of the oil of your choice and mix that in. Then you are supposed to take it out of the cup into your hands and knead it until it turns into a playdoh like mixture. At this point, according to the pin, the soap should have been done. Well as you can see by the picture right next to the one pouring the olive oil, my mixture was no where close to being a solid. So what I did was I added what I thought needed to be added. I added a little cornstarch and mixed that in and saw if that worked. I pretty much just added different things little by little until I saw results. I also was kneading the mixture in my hands for about 10 minutes. I did get great results in the end though!
This project was a lot of fun. The items were super easy to access, it didn't take very long, it was super fun to play with at the end, and I tried it out as soap and it completely works! The flubber soap was like a stress ball at the end, I didn't want to put it down. Also I left this out for a couple of hours and it didn't dry out or anything it stayed nice and squishy.
RATINGS:
Messiness: 7.5/10 The cornstarch was pretty messy, and when you have to mix with your hands that gets pretty sticky and messy
Simplicity: 7/10 It was very straight forward, easy to follow, and it worked out very well.
Fun: 8/10 I had a lot of fun not only making it but also playing with it afterward.
Overall: 9/10 The materials were things I had in my house, it was super easy to make, and it was so much fun to play with after.
Would I Do It Again?: Yeah! I had so much fun doing this DIY and it was definitely worth it!
