This weeks project is a coaster made out of popsicle sticks. I was searching through DIY's on Pinterest and this one came up and I thought it looked really cool so I wanted to try it out!!
What you are going to need for this DIY is come popsicle sticks, a hot glue gun, and glue sticks. The first thing you want to do is glue the base together. To do that you take two popsicles and lay them with the flat side down. Then take two more popsicle sticks and glue them perpendicular to the other ones but facing up, so the thin side is glued to the wider side of the other popsicle sticks. Then you want start gluing the popsicle sticks on top of the thin side of the sticks that are facing upwards. Now just repeat that process until you have filled the entire top of the coaster with popsicle sticks!
This project worked really well for me. It turned out exactly how I was expecting it to. there were more steps that could have been taken if you want to. Some people paint their coasters but I wasn't loving the way that looked. I did enjoy this and thought it went very well though. I would recommend this to people if they are in need of coasters!
RATINGS:
MESSINESS: 4/10 The only messy thing about this is the hot glue strings. Also it can get messy if the glue gets anywhere other that the popsicle sticks.
SIMPLICITY: 4/10 It was a bit hard in the beginning to get the base to glue together and be straight and not slip everywhere. After the base it wasn't to bad!
FUN: 3/10 This wasn't that great. It wasn't bad either. Gluing a bunch of sticks together is really all it took. I enjoyed the end product quite a bit though!
OVERALL: 6/10 It wasn't too hard, it wasn't too easy. Now I have a super cool coaster to use!
Would I DO IT AGAIN?: Yes, I definitely would do this again! If I am ever in need of a coaster I will definitely whip out some popsicle sticks and glue! Not to mention its a cute looking coaster! I would recommend this project!
